• Mr. Norman was the epitome of the ‘guide on the side’ and facilitator of learning as opposed to the ‘sage on the stage.’ He is ambitious in his lessons, striving to challenge students to be critical thinkers as well as creative collaborators. Mr. Norman’s conscious focus on such 21st century competencies indicate that he is a teacher who seeks to offer students what they will require for their future as opposed to what he experienced in his past.

• Mr. Norman is fastidious in both his role as English teacher and Dept. Chair. He keeps accurate, efficient records and, as noted above, champions practical yet innovative strategies that effectively address areas for growth within the English Department. His contributions in the Curriculum & Instruction Committee continue to be insightful and valuable as well. His calm, reasonable, and knowledgeable commentary fosters an environment of open collaboration and respect.

• Mr. Norman has executed the duties of Chair as model teacher, coach, and mentor with aplomb. He has developed an excellent rapport with his department members based on mutual trust and respect which has enabled him to address issues throughout the year with individual teachers openly, directly, and productively.
